ACKNOWLEDGE enables YOLO (and records the acknowledgement); MANUAL switches to Manual instead; CANCEL keeps the previous mode. A programmatic dismiss may still yield None, which callers treat like CANCEL so YOLO is never left active without an explicit acknowledge.
